I just wanted to thank Absalute Vinyl & Windows for providing a place to make a salute to our Veterans and those
serving our Country now.
I would like to "Salute" and "Thank" all of the men and women that have or are serving our
Country. Where would we be today without them. It is beyond my imagination and I for one think that all American's
need to keep this in mind.
We live our lives day after day working where we choose to work, worshiping where we
choose to worship, living where we choose to live, schooling where we choose to be educated. The list goes on and
on and I for one am grateful for this. These people have made great sacrifices and are very brave. We should be
proud!

I thank all the troopers that came before me . They gave me boots to fill that surely seemed way too big
for me to ever even come close . God knows I did my best and hope that I did them proud . I must admit that I still have something
that they gave me . The knowledge that I could kill when the time came and the willingness to die if that's what was necessary
. Warriors win wars , politicians lose wars . Maybe we're shooting at the wrong people .

Hello,
I'd like to salute all the men and women who have served in this Nation's armed forces. It's
very refreshing to see the caliber of people that have donned the uniform of their choice and laid it all on the line for
an ideal our forefathers' instilled in all of us... "We the people...".
And a special salute to my brother, retired SFC C.A. Baskin. Growing up I idolized him and followed
his every footstep, all the way to a little country called VietNam. We were both there at the same time and both in combat.
Even tho we are 12 years difference in age, I still look at him as a hero of mine. Between my dad and my brother, I was
given some very good lifes' lessons. Dad is gone now but not my brother and we spend a lot of time together just being brother's
of a fine family.

Hello,
I would like to Salute my Dad, Lloyd W. Clark who served in WWII. He entered the Army as a Private and served four
years. When he left the service, his rank was Corporal. He served two of those four years overseas in various
locations, mostly in the Pacific. He was in the 10th Armoured Division and was part of the tank group. However,
he was pulled and sent to Radio School to work intelligence and monitor the Japanese over the airwaves. At this time,
he was stationed in the Pacific serving as T-5 Intelligence. His job was to intercept radio signals and send the
information onto Washington D.C.
Once the war was declared over, he was with the first group to land in Kyoto, Japan. I've seen the photos from
this area that he brought back and it was unbelievable what they encountered. He continued to work in Intelligence while
stationed in Japan and this time they were monitoring the Russians and sending the information onto Washington D.C.
His unit was providing information to the Navy, Air Force and Army branches of the service.
My Dad and Mom truly are a part of the "Greatest Generation". They are 87 and live in the Lakeside neighborhood
of Duluth. When my Dad left to go overseas, my Mom had an apartment and $50.00 in her pocket. She too, was
a patriot during the war while her husband served overseas.
My Dad has always been proud of serving his country as he is proud of his country. He has his uniform and medals
and photos from when he served. He loves to tell about his experiences when he was but a young man of 22 overseas and
far from anything close to North Dakota.
I am proud of my Dad and all veterans along with those soldiers who are currently serving and protecting us.
Thank you Dad, and to each and every one who has sacrificed and given to our country, the great United States of America.

I would like to send out a salute to my son Sgt Joshua Peterson 3rd Brigade Combat Team 82nd Airborne Division . The
young men of his unit spent 15 months in Iraq at great sacrifice. I want to salute the families of the 54 men that gave their
lives from his outfit during this tour. He lost a best friend and gained alot more responsibilty as the tour went on . He
handled it all with ease and I am proud of him beyond words. They will be leaving this fall for another tour , the 3rd BCT's
5th tour in the Global War on Terror. God Bless & thank you.

Hi,
I would like to salute my dad, Jonas Arthur Heikkila.(March 12, 1923 - January 20, 2005)
My dad
is the strongest man I have ever known. Physically, unbelievable... I have yet to see anyone that could work as hard
as he did over his entire life. Emotionally, I only know a small amount of what his strengths were because
he quietly instilled his values and beliefs consistently throughout each and every day he lived.
He served in the
Army Infantry during World War II and was awarded the purple heart, the bronze star and received a general's medallion
for service above and beyond the call of duty.
I learned so much from my Dad. I continually gain more
understanding as my life continues. So much of which can only be fully appreciated and understood with time and
maturity.
I guess if there is anyone that deserves a salute it would be my Dad. He served his Country and
mankind with pride and honor.
"SALUTE, JONAS HEIKKILA"
Love, JoEllen
